Sports Wellness

At All Fit, you will benefit from a therapist that has experience working with athletes at all levels, middle school to professional. We have worked with athletes from MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, WNBA and MLS. Our goal is to support an athlete's performance training efforts by ensuring there is proper focus on the appropriate building blocks required to improve performance while minimizing injury risk. Keeping an athlete healthy is one of the major hurdles to maximizing performance.

FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS other than strength!

We like to start with an assessment of the athlete's foundational capacity. BIGGER, FASTER, STRONGER starts with proper mobility/flexibility, core strength, and movement control/functional stability. These foundational skills should be assessed before trying to push the system harder. Often some of the best athletes are much more deficient in one or more of these areas than you would think. If that is the case their injury risk increases.

We screen athletes for these foundational skills as well as work through remnants of old injuries to make sure they can stay on their training schedule. As they work to maximize their foundational skills they could then push the performance enhancement concepts but should frequently return to corrective and maintenance techniques to help recover from the stresses of training and competing.

TRAINING SCHEDULE

Along with those factors athletes should consider how to build their training around their competitive season. Many youth athletes are training nearly year-round at this point and that can be a recipe for disaster. We can work through how a training schedule can be built around a schedule like that.

RETURN TO PLAY

We help athletes understand how to make the decision of when to get back to play after an injury or surgery. Athletes often underestimate the time and repetition that is necessary to properly and safely return to play. Thoughts regarding return to competition are often focused on how much time has passed since the injury/surgery rather than how well they have regained functional capacity and safety. The focus should be on the quality of movement and mastery of necessary skills, not the date on the calendar. Full recovery and mastery of movement control can happen at very different rates for different individuals.
